The following is some literary information about the herbs used in our creams and gels:
Cardiospermum halicababum (Baloon Vine): this plant from Asia is indicated for allergic and inflammatory reactions of the skin. This includes also itching and acute nettle-rash, which is often caused by washing agents and insect bites.
Echinacea purpurea (Purple Coneflower): this well known medicinal plant also has an effect by external application. It is wound healing and anti-inflammatory. It generally enhances the regulatory power of resistance. It is used in case of eczema and skin inflammations.
Hamamelis virginiana (Witch Hazel): is an internal and external remedy for diseases of the veins, for example varicose veins and lower leg ulcers. The plant has also a wound healing effect and is used therefore generally for local inflammations. The advice is also to use it for hands with damaged skin.
Hypericum perforatum (Common St.John’s Wort): the oil made from the flowers of this plant is used externally in cases of burns and also sun-burns. The pure Common St. John’s Wort oil is known as effective wound healing remedy. It is excellent for nerve pains following injuries and operations.
Chamomilla recutita (Chamomile or bot. Camomile): is indicated externally for skin inflammations. It can be used also in cases of insect bites. Excellent in cases of pustules because of its antitoxic effect.
Calendula officinalis (Marigold): this traditional medicinal plant is well known for its anti-inflammatory and granulation promoting effect. It is used therefore particularly for the production of appropriate ointments and tinctures. Couperose can also be treated with Calendula.
